Strangest objects in the Universe

If there is anything stranger than the universe, it is the objects found in it. All that you know of about it is only a small portion of the whole. You will be surprised to know that there are so many objects and phenomena out there that are still unexplored. Scientists are exploring the various aspects that we have no knowledge about. Curious much?

In this article, we have listed below a few strangest objects that have been found in the universe. Without wasting any more time, let us take a look at them.

#1 The Red Rectangle Nebula

This nebula has a unique geometrical shape, which makes it one of the strangest up there. It has been found in the Monoceros constellation and is 2300 light-years far from the earth. Two stars are sitting at its heart, and when they hit the ring of dust surrounding it, bright cones of dust start appearing. It is when it takes a square-like shape. This nebula showcases an unusual phenomenon termed the extended red emission, making its dust glow red.

#2 Nuclear Pasta

Yes, that’s right, a nuclear pasta in space! It is created from the remains of a dead star. The neutrons and protons are subjected to intense gravitational pressure that squeezes them in. It is where they get their linguini-like twist. This material is quite strong and will only break if you apply the same force that you would use to take steel apart.

#3 Cosmic Microwave Background

It is nothing but radiation that the renowned Big Bang has left behind. This primordial leftover is also known as the CMB. It first came into notice circa the 1960s as a radio-like noise coming from everywhere. It has served as one of the most crucial pieces of evidence supporting the Big Bang theory. As per studies, the CMB has a temperature of -455 degrees Fahrenheit.

#4 Neutrinos

The name sounds quite chic, right? Well, these are elementary particles that are mass-less and electrically neutral. It can go through lead without being harmed. Particles as such are created from supernova explosions and inner fires of healthy and burning stars. Scientists are conducting studies to know more about them and have deployed detectors above and beneath the sea to detect them.

#5 Hoag’s Object

Hoag’s object challenges every understanding that scientists have gathered about galaxies. Some are spiral and flat as the milky way, while the other types are the ellipticals. However, Hoag’s Object does not fall under any of these two categories. It has young stars forming the outer ring, a yellow core but nothing in between them. According to a theory, another galaxy, much smaller in size, went through it, leaving behind such a structure.

#6 Gravity Waves

It is a concept that feels like it has been cited from some Christopher Nolan movie. Jokes apart, these are pretty much real and are linked to the theory of general relativity, put forth by Albert Einstein. These waves are interruptions in the space-time fabric, as per Einstein. Although gravity waves move at the speed of light, they are weak to a large extent. Scientists are of the view that these waves can only be detected during some cosmic event. Hence, detectors named LISA and LIGO have been employed to detect them.

#7 The Moon’s Moon

Two better than one, eh? As per recent calculations and speculations, there are chances of a moon having its moon. The day is not far when astronomers can discover one such instance. Netizens have gone gaga over this fact and have come up with some exciting names, such as submoon, grandmoons, moonitos, moooons, moonettes, and the best one, moonmoon. Which do you like?

#8 Exoplanets

Did you know that astronomers have been able to identify planets that do not belong to our solar system? It’s true. They have been successful in finding more than 500 exoplanets, and they belong to a varied range. Some of them are worlds of gargantuan gas, while a few others are smaller than stars, among many other types. With such findings, scientists have long back begun searching for a planet that can be dubbed as the second earth. Astronomers believe that with more advanced technology, this day is going to come soon.

The Bottom Line

We are sure that the strangest things mentioned above have astonished you and poked the curious inner you. We wish you all the best in your journey to know them even better.
